Overview

These terms govern your use of Aoki Sisters (aokisisters.com), operated by DLKR Inc. (DLKR株式会社) ("we," "us," "our"), a Kabushiki Kaisha (K.K.) registered in Japan. By subscribing, becoming a member, or using any part of the service, you agree to these terms.

Aoki Sisters is a media and ecommerce brand featuring AI-generated character travel and fashion content. The characters Emily and Erika Aoki are AI-generated; all content is produced by DLKR's human team using AI tools. See the AI Disclosure for full details.

Newsletter and digital content

We publish a weekly newsletter and run a paid membership program. Membership tiers are:

Newsletter subscriptions and member content are delivered through Ghost CMS, hosted by Magic Pages. Payment for paid memberships is processed through Stripe.

License. Paid members receive a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable license to access and use the digital content included with their tier. You may not redistribute, resell, publicly share, or commercially exploit the content. Downloadable Collector-tier media (audio, clips, wallpapers) is licensed for personal use on your own devices only — not for republication, resale, or use in any commercial context.

Access. Online content (newsletter posts and member-only articles) is available for the duration of your active membership.

Member-generated content

When you submit material as part of your membership — including comments, Mailbag questions, location and outfit requests, and custom video briefs — you grant DLKR a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, adapt, and respond to that material in our content. This license is what allows us to publicly answer Mailbag questions in posts that all members can read, and to produce the custom monthly video for Star-tier members.

You retain ownership of the underlying ideas you submit. We won't disclose your real name in connection with a published response unless you've agreed; published responses may include your display name or a pseudonym you provide at signup.

You're responsible for ensuring your submissions don't:

• Infringe anyone else's intellectual property
• Contain personal information about third parties
• Request content that depicts real, identifiable people
• Request anything not safe for work (custom Star-tier briefs must be SFW; we'll decline and refund the month if a brief is unworkable on those grounds)

We reserve the right to decline any submission that violates these terms or that we cannot safely fulfill.

Merchandise

The shop at shop.aokisisters.com is operated separately through Fourthwall. Purchases of physical merchandise, digital products sold there, or any other shop transactions are governed by Fourthwall's terms of service and privacy policy, not by these terms. We don't process payments, fulfill orders, or handle returns for shop purchases — those are handled by Fourthwall.

AI-generated content notice

The characters Emily and Erika Aoki are AI-generated. All images, videos, and synthesized voices on the site are AI-produced; the writing and editorial direction are produced by DLKR's human team. The full AI Disclosure — including FAQ — is at aokisisters.com/disclosure and is incorporated into these terms by reference.

Orders and payment

Currency: All prices are listed and charged in US dollars (USD).

Payment processing: Payments for paid memberships are processed through Stripe. We don't directly handle or store your payment credentials.

Subscription billing: Your paid membership begins on the date of your first payment and renews automatically at the frequency you selected (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price until you cancel.

Before your subscription begins, you'll receive confirmation of: the recurring price, the billing frequency, and how to cancel. We'll notify you by email at least 30 days before any price change takes effect.

Taxes: Prices don't include applicable taxes. Any consumption tax, sales tax, VAT, or other taxes required by your jurisdiction are your responsibility. Where required by law, applicable taxes will be calculated and added at checkout.

Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel your paid membership at any time through your Ghost account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No refunds for partial periods.

Access to member-only content ends when your membership lapses. Downloadable Collector-tier files you've already saved remain yours under the personal-use license described above.

Star tier specifically: If you cancel during a billing period for which the custom monthly video has not yet been delivered, we'll still produce and deliver that month's video, provided you've submitted a complete brief before the cancellation date. Future months won't be charged. If you cancel before submitting a brief for the current month, no video will be produced for that period; we don't refund the current month on that basis.

Intellectual property

Our content. DLKR retains all rights, title, and interest in:

• The characters Emily and Erika Aoki (their likeness, names, voices, and persona)
• All images, videos, audio, and text published on aokisisters.com or distributed to members
• The Aoki Sisters brand, logo, and visual identity
• The underlying methods, frameworks, and tools we use to produce the work

Member rights. Your paid membership grants you a personal-use license to access and use the content included with your tier, as described in the Newsletter and Digital Content section above. This is a license, not a transfer of ownership.

You may not:

• Redistribute, repost, or resell any content
• Use any content for commercial purposes
• Train AI models on our content
• Strip the AI-disclosure metadata from downloaded files
• Pass off the characters or content as your own

Custom Star-tier videos. Custom videos produced for Star-tier members are delivered under the same personal-use license: you may keep the file, view it on your own devices, and share it privately with friends. You may not publish it commercially, redistribute it, or use it to imply endorsement of anything by Emily, Erika, or DLKR. DLKR retains the underlying rights to the characters and may reuse the production assets in other content.

Methodology. We keep ownership of our underlying methods, frameworks, processes, and tools, including the AI workflows and prompts we use to produce content.

Confidentiality

We treat any private communications you send (including Mailbag questions you ask us to keep private and custom video brief details) as confidential. We won't share that information with third parties except as required by law or as necessary to deliver the service.

By default, Mailbag submissions are intended for public response — we'll publish answers in posts visible to other members. If you want a question kept private, mark it clearly when you submit it; we'll either answer privately or decline.

This confidentiality obligation survives the end of your membership.

Limitation of liability

The Aoki Sisters service is provided for entertainment and informational purposes. We don't guarantee the accuracy of every detail in travel content; our research is human-edited and sourced from primary materials, but we make no warranty that places, prices, or conditions described in posts will match what you find when you visit them.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us for your membership in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We're not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.

Nothing in this section limits our liability for intentional misconduct (故意) or gross negligence (重過失). These exclusions cannot be waived under Japanese law.

Member responsibilities

You're responsible for:

• Providing accurate account and payment information
• Keeping your login credentials secure
• Ensuring any submissions you make (comments, Mailbag, custom video briefs) comply with the rules in the Member-generated content section above
• Confirming you have the right to share any materials you provide to us

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) materials or submissions you provide to us, (b) your use of our content in a way that violates these terms or applicable law, or (c) a breach of your representations in these terms.

This indemnification obligation survives the end of your membership.

Dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan.

If a dispute arises, we'll first try to resolve it through good-faith discussion. If we can't reach a resolution, the dispute will be submitted to mediation or, if necessary, to the courts of Tokyo, Japan.

Force majeure

We're not liable for delays or failure to perform due to events outside our reasonable control — including natural disasters, pandemic-related disruptions, internet or platform outages, government actions, or failures of third-party service providers (including Ghost, Stripe, Fourthwall, and the AI tools we use to produce content). If a force majeure event delays delivery of a Star-tier custom video, we'll notify you and agree on a revised timeline; if delivery becomes impossible, we'll refund the affected month.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the service after changes are posted means acceptance of the updated terms. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email.

Changes don't apply retroactively to memberships in progress in a way that's materially adverse to you. If you have an active subscription when terms are updated, the price and tier benefits in effect at the time of your most recent renewal continue to govern that period.

General provisions

Severability: If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

Entire agreement: These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, our AI Disclosure and Commercial Disclosure, the published tier descriptions on aokisisters.com, and any order confirmation you receive, constitute the entire agreement between us. In the event of a conflict between these terms and a tier description, these terms govern.

Separately operated surfaces. The shop at shop.aokisisters.com is governed by Fourthwall's terms.

Assignment: You may not assign your rights or obligations under these terms without our written consent. We may assign ours in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of our business.

Commercial disclosure

Under Japan's Act on Specified Commercial Transactions (特定商取引法), businesses selling services online are required to display certain operator information. The full disclosure — including business name, representative, address, payment methods, delivery timelines, and cancellation terms — is published at aokisisters.com/disclosure. That disclosure is incorporated into these terms by reference.
